President Donald Trump forever changed American politics when he ran for the presidency in 2016. As a result of his win, many non-politicians are quite seriously considering running for office.
One of those people is rocker Kid Rock, who has been teasing a potential 2018 Senate run for a few weeks now. On Wednesday, he went on Facebook to talk about his potential run a little more, and to make an important announcement.
“The one thing I’ve seen over and over is that although people are unhappy with the government, too few are even registered to vote or do anything about it,” the entertainer wrote in a lengthy Facebook post.
In the post, Kid Rock didn’t confirm that he was actually going to run (he claimed he still has yet to decide), but he did state that he would be taking steps to encourage voter registration.
“During this time while exploring my candidacy for US Senate, I am creating a 501(c)(4) — a non-profit organization for the promotion of voter registration. Not only can I raise money for this critical cause, but I can help get people registered to vote at my shows,” he wrote.
That’s actually a very good thing. Kid Rock is using his platform for something good — which you don’t see a lot of politicians doing these days.
More singers and celebrities should be encouraging people to sign up to vote. Even if we don’t happen to agree with your brand of politicians, we all have the privilege of living in a country that has free and fair elections, and we should participate in them.
Kid Rock also went after Democrats and the media in his post, sounding quite similar to Trump in tone — even if the off-color language is a little rural for the 45th president..
“One thing is for sure though … The democrats are ‘shattin’ in their pantaloons’ right now … and rightfully so!” he wrote in one of the last lines of his post.
Right now it is very unclear if Kid Rock could actually win. There have been some polls that have indicated a rising interest in him, but the polls have also shown a lot of people aren’t sure what they think yet, and it is far too early to make a prediction.
While many aren’t really taking Kid Rock’s run seriously, we should remind everyone that the media treated Trump the exact same way when he announced his candidacy — and now he is the president of the United States. CONSERVATIVE TRIBUNE
